Former Wheelabrator Executive to Drive Strategy for Rapidly Growing Company

Asian Atlantic Industries (AAI), a privately held global independent electronics distributor, announced today that Mark A. Weidman has joined the Company as Partner and Chief Operating Officer, effective immediately. Weidman has served as a member of AAI’s Advisory Board for the past five years.

“AAI has experienced incredible growth over the past several years. We recognize the need for someone with Mark’s global leadership experience to help us direct and manage this growth,” said Tom Mahoney, AAI’s president and Chief Executive Officer. “Mark’s place on our team will add significant vision and value to our Company, and we are thrilled to welcome him.”

Mr. Weidman also served as a consultant to AAI since August 2015 in his capacity as Founder and CEO of Birch Tree Environmental Group, an organization that provides organizational assessment, business process improvement, and business development support. Prior to that, he spent 25 years with Wheelabrator Technologies Inc., a renewable energy development and operations business with annual revenues of $880 million. For the last nine years he served as Wheelabrator’s President and CEO, with responsibility for all of the company’s business operations in North America, UK, Europe, and Asia. Weidman led more than 1,200 employees, overseeing a fleet of advanced power facilities converting 21,000 tons of waste per day into 690 MW of renewable electric generating capacity.

At AAI, Mr. Weidman will focus on a range of strategic growth initiatives. “We are actively adding resources to maintain a consistently high level of commitment to our customers, while strategizing to build the Company even further,” said Weidman. “I am honored and excited to be a formal part of AAI, and look forward to joining Tom in its leadership.” Weidman is a registered professional engineer and graduate of Pennsylvania State University. He lives in Portsmouth with his wife Anne.

With annual revenues of over $100 million and 15 worldwide locations, AAI’s three divisions utilize the management team’s combined industry experience to deliver exceptional service while accommodating varying customer needs. The Mobile Solutions Group brings together global connections, market research, and competitive prices to yield the best mobile devices and features for AAI’s customers. Its Finished Goods Division leverages the Company’s financial strength and relationships with key manufacturers, distributors, suppliers, retailers, and e-tailers to facilitate a wide range of product requests of any quantity.

The Integrated Circuits Division distributes electronic components to large OEM and contract manufacturers and helps create +PPV, fill shortages, and sell excess inventory. The global electronic components marketplace, estimated at $300 billion in size, foresees continuing robust growth as technology innovations drive both the escalating use – and rapid obsolescence – of embedded components. AAI’s up-to-the-minute marketplace knowledge and sourcing technologies makes the Company uniquely positioned to keep customers well ahead of this curve.
